After graduating from Punahou in 1951, he went away to the University of Utah and returned to Hawaii to graduate with a Civil Engineering Degree from the University of Hawaii in 1957. Gordon and family moved to Oahu where he enrolled at Punahou in the 7th Grade. Gordon was born in Hilo, Hawaii, Februto Gordon and Martha Scruton.
